Congratulations Graduates!

Yesterday, my husband and I hosted a Graduation Party for our 2 kids who graduated from high school this month. We have been preparing for this party since August. People thought we were crazy for planning it that far in advance, but the time has flown. Yesterday was the day, and it was absolutely perfect!

All week long, the weather report had predicted rain. We rented an indoor facility so we weren’t concerned on that level, but the venue is on a lake and is so pretty when the sun is out. When we woke up yesterday, it was drizzly and cloudy but about 2 hours before the party began, the sun came out!

The morning started out crazy! We had 204 donuts to pick up at 9 a.m. We also had a realtor coming to show our house from 10:30-11:30. We were very busy but it all worked out and we arrived at the party venue at 11:30 to set up.

We had 30 minutes to set up before the party began and we succeeded. It turned out wonderful! The food seemed to be a hit, the donuts were a hit, and we were so shocked and thankful at all of the people who came to offer their congratulations to our kids. The party was from 12-3 and when 3:00 hit, I was not ready for it to end.

At so many points throughout the party, my family and I wished that we could pause time in order to take it all in. I would have just liked to have stopped and stared at all of the people and the great time that they were having visiting with friends and family. We have not seen some of the people who attended for over 10 years. It was so awesome to see so many people that we love so much in one place at one time!  It was wonderful!!

My kids were asked many times at the party what their future plans are. Just like most high school graduates, they have a plan that they could share with the inquirer. Since I have homeschooled my kids for the past 13 years, I was also asked this question. My answer was and is, “I am not totally sure”. I am not sure if I will continue to be homemaker or get a job outside of the house. I have a couple of ideas up my sleeve, but those are “dream” scenarios at this point and I am not sure if I will pursue them or not. Right now it is fun to sort of dream.

I have loved homeschooling my children and will miss it like crazy. It is hard to believe that my days as a homeschooling mom are over. I do not think that it will totally hit me until maybe August when I am not ordering school curriculum and planning out the school year ahead.

Yesterday was such a special day. It was a great way to close out the kids high school years. My husband and I are so proud of both of them! They are awesome young adults! All of us are now ready to spread our wings and see what our futures hold.

Thank you again to all of the people who made yesterday so special!  The first thing that I said this morning when I woke up was, “I would love to put on another party today, …..but someone else would need to fund it.”  Hahaha……….
